Okay, so you guys should know that I've been too busy to write anything about thanksgiving; I'm living it! But I cannot disclose whether or not I've been spending those busy hours eating or actually doing something productive. ;) I actually spent a lot of time relaxing and not worrying about school or all those little things that tend to annoy the average teenager.
Note: One Direction loves those little things.
Lastly, I have to leave you now to eat once again. Goodbye my lovelies.

Ignorant People
So, in class today we got an assignment to do a presentation on a civil rights topic. I kind of excited because its a topic that I'm kind of interested in. Even though I failed to come up with a topic I still think I will enjoy the assignment. I understand that not everyone has the same opinion as me, that would be a very boring world but, I just wanted to say something!
First off, this one girl just didn't want to do ANY topic and she said, "Is there anything not related to African Americans that I can do?" Now, don't get me wrong, I was also debating whether or not to do women instead but just the way she said it rubbed me the wrong way. She has been known to be racist in the past but I think I just gave her too much benefit of the doubt seeing as she hadn't said anything too bad of recent. Then when the teacher said she could have done gays if another student hadn't taken it already she responded with, "I don't want to do them either!" -__-
Secondly, this other girl whom I get along with fairly well, said that she doesn't like this unit and "wishes it (civil rights) never happened." This made me raise my eyebrows.
Now I know I live in a mostly Caucasian town so I can chalk it up to just plain ignorance. They haven't seen enough of the world; they haven't interacted with different types of people. Some never will but, I hope that someday race relations won't have to be such a big deal. I hope that these labels will start to disintegrate and people will finally see the person within.

Life guys, life...
So I totally just wrote a LONG rant but I didn't post it because it's about a friend and I'm not like that...but she did get on my nerves. If I know you and I'm not talking then I'm mad. FYI...
In other news, have you guys ever wondered why you like someone when you see how they act sometimes?
Also, Tip: When trying to get over a guy don't listen to Taylor Swift, Adele, or Ed Sheeran. Unfortunately that's like 50% of what I listen to, so I'm screwed...
Lastly, We watched a one woman play on Dating Violence called The Yellow Dress (it was good!) today at school and I learned something. How do you handle it? You leave...you get hit. You stay...you get hit. And if a friend tells you about it what do you do? I think its a really hard conversation. Because on one hand you want to tell them or help them leave but that's their BOYFRIEND and they are blinded by love. On the other hand though you can't tell them to stay!
Moral of the story...Life is CONFUSING!

Heartbreaker
So today I'm talking about relationships once again. This time it is in relation to one of my favorite new songs. How to be a Heartbreaker by Marina and the Diamonds is about becoming a heart breaker in order to not get your own heart broken. Marina sings about 4 key rules one has to follow in order to successfully be a heart breaker.
Rule #1 is to have fun but also be the first one to leave the relationship if you think its going sour.
Rule #2 is to not get attached to the person
Rule #3 is to never wear your heart on your sleeve a.k.a don't put your heart out there.
Rule #4 is to be pure, "leave him wanting more" -Marina
So, are these sure fire ways to be a heart breaker? YES! Bad news though, you'll just end up with a broken heart as well. And what's worse is, you can't be mad at him/her because, IT WAS YOUR FAULT!
Does that mean that if you don't follow these rules you'll be fine? Hate to be the one to break it to you but...that's a big fat NO. In the bridge Marina even admits this. (DUH, the song is kind of a satire in the way that it points out the flaws of its own points on purpose to showcase the idiocy*)
*not complete idiocy, but I will get to that.
"Girls, we do, whatever it will take
Cause girls don't want, we don't want our hearts to break
In two, so it's better to be fake
Can't risk losing love again babe."-Marina
This song has found a clever way of saying that there is no sure fire way to avoid heart break. And honestly the question you should be asking in a budding relationship is not: Am I going to get my heart broken again? But instead: Is it worth it even if I do?
But now we come to my next point which you might think is a paradox to my previous statement. Maybe its okay to be a heart breaker.
Okay, I know what your thinking, but hear me out.
If your in high school this seems kind of practical to me. Now, I know love isn't practical but that doesn't mean your relationship can't be. I'm not advocating the complete message that I'm sure only works for those guys, you know the ones I'm talking about. So here's a modified version that I think I might just use as a high school relationship bible (or at least one of the volumes ;))
Rule #1: Is still to have fun but instead of running too quickly just try not to hold on too long.
Rule #2: Don't become too attached a.k.a clingy.
Rule #3: Instead, I think you should wear your heart on your sleeve without being too emotional. It shows him/her where you stand in the relationship.
Rule #4: I'm keeping this one for it's the absolute truth in my mind; you've got to stay pure (or pretty close to it) especially in high school!
So, are these modified rules a sure fire way to never get your heart broken? NO WAY!
Are these rules easier in theory? Definitely.
But keep them in mind! Don't become the monster you're trying to avoid but don't make it easy for them either. and lastly....
HAVE FUN!!!!!
Disclaimer: As a human being it is YOUR JOB to make YOUR OWN decisions about relationships. Just providing my take.
This is the song, enjoy ;)

Friends
So, today I hung out with two of my closest friends at the movies/ mall. We had a great time and I loved it. We went into debs and they tried to dress me up...fail ;). But it was a really cute outfit and I now know of a shirt that I want really bad! This is the first time that I ever have been to the mall with my friends. It was fun and my only regret is that I had no spending money. Having friends take an interest in dressing me up even though its so hard for me to find an outfit is very nice.
I also had a friend read chapters 1 and 2 of my short story and she did and, other than some totally understandable critiques that I will use to fix the story, she said she loved it. That made me so happy you would not believe. I love writing and to have a friend actually like my work is lovely. I also was writing a little more of it at school and another friend said it was good. The point here is not to brag but instead tell you guys that I love my friends. I value their opinions very much and am happy that they like what I'm doing.
And lastly, I had a friend tell me that he checks almost everyday to see if I put up a new blog post and I'm so grateful for that.

Hiya!
So, my next few posts will be fairly serious. And I know I'm just a teenager and that I don't have an "expert" opinion but I just really feel like talking about those subjects.
Secondly, I just wanted to give a shout out to any family or friends that read my blog so...SHOUT OUT! But in all seriousness I love you guys and you are the reasons that I survive high school. I wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for you. So, thank you so much for taking the time to be in my life. <3 <3
If you don't know me than thanks for reading my blog even though I'm a complete stranger. Your time is greatly appreciated.
And lastly, if you are of age GO VOTE! ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN A SWING STATE! And vote for who you think will be the better candidate...*cough cough* Obama *cough cough* ;)

Dreams
I don't know if there is any explanation, weird or otherwise, that describes why I have strange dreams. If you think you have weird dreams I promise you that I can top them every time. Here's the gist of some of my dreams...
-there is a tornado coming and mom will not do anything until the spaghetti is cooked; then we go to the attic -__-
-a mud tornado, a snow tornado, etc...
-trying to find Friendly's and instead finds a speeding carousel that comes out of the ground
-a hunger games type battle over the bathroom
-a woman taking my sneakers and swinging them like a lasso
-shopping for clothes that are hanging on a rack in an ally in a questionable part of town.
-bathroom in a wheat field that leads to a shopping mall
-being inside a video game
-Living in a hexagonal house that's only one foot wide and is located in the "tall tall grass"
I could go on for DAYS...
I am one of those people that tries to find the meaning of dreams. Some say there is no meaning to your dreams; that they are just your mind entertaining you while you sleep but I believe otherwise. I believe that dreams can tell you what you really think about something. You may already know it, like for instance I know I dream about tornadoes because I am deathly afraid of them. Other things are not so easy to figure out. Every time a Shopping Mall is in my dream I get paranoid. In real life I'm happy to go shopping but if it's in my dream suddenly it means danger. Guys that I have a "crush" on tend to be in my dreams as well but that explains itself.
So, as I delve more into the "meaning" of my dreams I hope to figure out how to connect them to what is really happening in my life. And if not, it still makes for good TV. If only I could dream up some popcorn. ;)
The only thing that I wish was true is communal dreaming. For instance, if I'm dreaming about you then you are actually in my dream so we're having the same dream. That would be AWESOME.
So tell me, What's your weirdest dream? Best dream? Worst?
Enjoy this really old song because all the pictures that came up were too triptastic to post.
XOXOXOXOXO Mel.

Make-up
Now, I had a pretty weighty topic for today, but I decided to save it for later. I really want to gather my thoughts and opinions before I say anything. So, I have decided on the topic of make-up.
There are many different types of make-up.
Natural- the "no make up" look.
Cute- the not a little girl make-up look
Technical- the look what I can do with eyeshadow look
War Paint- looking like a barbie or a member of BVB (an extreme)
I'll admit I tend to lean towards the technical side with purples and blues but I still no how to rock it without looking like a porcelain doll. You should never paint yourself so much that it covers up your true self. I bet that it looks twenty times better than L'Oreal. Then finally someone can say that it's you, not Maybelline.
